Legends of Tomorrow continues to be an awesome show. This show finds a way to balance being fun and silly and also giving us some serious, emotional moments. In this episode, we find out why the Legends have been having to go around fixing time and how it relates to Mallus. One simple explanation and now all the previous episodes that didn't seem to have a connection to the big bad, do now. It's been brilliant storytelling and just makes the show fun. Other things of note:
Focuses on time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter, who has to recruit a rag-tag team of heroes and villains to help prevent an apocalypse that could impact not only Earth, but all of time. On March 12th, Marvel and Stitcher Premium are releasing a 10-episode scripted series called Wolverine: The Long Night. It’s Marvel’s first serious foray into podcasting. After a month break, Agents of SHIELD is back and it's all hands on deck.Gotta hand it to them, no show comes out of break better than Agents of SHIELD. This show doesn't pull any punches and just because the Agents are back in the present doesn't make them safer. Ok seriously I'll stop with hand/arm puns now. We finally get more on General Hill and it seems that she's putting together her own team. YoYo gets closer to her comic book counterpart and Coulson isn't going to make it out of this season alive. Oh and Deke's still alive and now in this time period too because...why not. We have no idea what's going to happen next. Episode 100 is next and we know it's going to throw us for a loop. Also, time to pick up Secret Warriors again cause with YoYo's arms gone, Creel coming back and the way this whole thing is going, there might be some clues in that series. Coulson and his team are out to rewrite the fate of humanity but they are unaware how the changes will affect one S.H.I.E.L.D. agent's life.

So this episode of Arrow (Collision Course) isn't the greatest but we'll continue to watch it over and over again just to what Rene get what he's had coming him. Look, the new team is stupid. Real stupid. We get that the writers are trying to show that this new team is going through the same learning process Oliver did but, they're so damn dumb. They keep trying to have a moral high ground but every reason they use is just wrong. But hey, we got to see Oliver kick Rene into a tree and put him out of commission, so it's not all bad. Oliver, Diggle and Felicity disagree with Dinah, Curtis and Rene on how to handle Black Siren. The two teams face off and a fight ensues.

The last of our Oscar Awards shows before the actual Oscars. We’re discussing the top dog awards (Best Director and Best Picture). But before we get to all that, we have to discuss what we’ve been hinting at the last 2 shows and has become a reality: The Oscar Voters are full of shit. We discuss the articles that have come out about anonymous voters admitting to things like not even watching Get Out and the bias that we’ve seen since before OscarsSoWhite. It also explains a lot of the strange nominations we’ve seen (Mary J Blige got nominated but Jason Mitchell didn’t? Why is Denzel nominated?). So who do we think will take Best Director and Best Picture? We talk about who we are rooting for and why we know it just won’t happen. Maybe we’ll be surprised. We’ll be back after the Oscars to discuss the winners and also the films that didn’t make the cut but we still want to discuss (And we’ll finally have that Three Billboards discussion as well). We are back to discuss the weakest episode of the season. It was a little message heavy, a little problematic, and not as well acted as it could have been. However, Gambi has a lot of explaining to do-first Tobias and now Lady E? Hmmm. In this episode Lynn and Jefferson discover Anissa has powers as she and Jefferson go toe to toe during a rescue mission, Jennifer is betrayed by Khalil, who has jumped on the villain agenda a little too smoothly, and Tobias is not impressed by people bleeding on his floor. Also, a showdown with Lady E has to be on the horizon.

The Flash is back from break and Kriss & Dpalm disagree on this episode, Subject 9. Both have valid points and it honestly comes down to how seriously the audience is taking The Flash right now. They just haven't lived up to their first two seasons and so if you adjust expectations then the show can still be fun. The Good:
The Bad

Kriss & Dpalm are back to review this week's episode of Legends of Tomorrow. Legends of Tomorrow has been head and shoulders above Arrow and The Flash for a while but nothing makes that more obvious than Wally's appearance in The Curse of the Earth Totem. It felt natural, it was funny and it gave us a side of the character we've been missing ever since he was introduced on The Flash. At this point, CW is missing an opportunity if they don't give us short 5 minute web episodes of Wally & Rip doing funny things throughout history. I mean who didn't love Wally & Rip singing Careless Whisper in 1992 Tokyo? And that's not even touching the rest of the episode that gives us a first date between Ava & Sara, the team "stealing" the timeship to go find the earth totem, Blackbeard being a coward, Damien Darkh continuing to be a better villain on this show than Arrow and Ray making a dumb decision that we all understand because they set up him wanting to save Norah episodes ago. This show is just good. Period. It's fun, its consistent and always keeps us guessing full of surprises. While Sara takes some private time, the Legends follow a lead on the whereabouts of the Earth Totem and find themselves in 1717 on the hunt for Blackbeard's treasure.

Legends of Tomorrow continues to shine and what better way to prove that than a good ole fashion time loop episode? But wait! It's not a regular time loop episode, instead it's really a clever way of doing some character development for Zari as well as moving some interpersonal relationships on the Waverider forward. Here I Go Again proves that the Legends of Tomorrow writing room really knows how to work an ensemble cast as well as make good use of their shortened season. Of course now we need Mick's Sci-Fi romance novel to be real. Oh and the Legend of Sara Lance continues! Make sure you subscribe to Super Tuesday Recap so you don't miss an episode. We have a lot of opinions on the Best Supporting Actor category as we think there are some significant names missing from the list. How the hell did Jason Mitchell not get nominated for Mudbound? No love for Armie Hammer? Did Woody Harrelson get nominated for the wrong movie? Should the Academy expand the actor/actress categories to match the number of nominated Best Pictures? Just like the first show, we break down each category by

Shanna, D and Parrish spend way too much time anticipating seeing Black Panther and discussing which classic 70s and 90s figures should guest star on Black Lightning. An unexpected phone call unearths the long-buried need for Jefferson to investigate the murder of his father. Meanwhile, Annisa wrestles with the fact that her actions have dire consequences. Man...it's good to be back. We forgot how much we loved Legends of Tomorrow until it came back. This is the best of the Arrowverse shows (Black Lightning doesn't count since it's not in the Arrowverse yet) and its not even close. We've always loved Sara Lance but what they do with her this episode is legendary. From seeing her and Ava flirt with each other, her seducing John Constantine and then tying in her previous death and loss of a soul...it's just amazing. The only thing better might be Mick spending the entire time watching a football game. And all that's before we get into the meat of the episode. It was a great return, they're handling their villain and story better than the other shows and we can't wait for more. John Constantine pays the Legends a visit; they agree to accompany him to a present-day psychiatric hospital and are surprised to discover who Constantine is trying to help; Amaya and Nate once again come face-to-face with Kuasa.

We said we were going to do it and now we're making good on that promise. Kriss & Phenom kick off their Award Season 2018 show by talking about the actresses up for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in the 2018 Academy Awards. They also throw in a quick discussion about the films up for Best Visual Effects. So here's how these shows will go. Kriss & Phenom will discuss each category by first discussing who they want to win, who deserves to win and who they think will actually take the prize home. You'd think that would be the same person for all three but nope. Particularly this year. This is a really competitive year among the nominees and it's going to be really interesting. We also discuss who we think shouldn't have been nominated and who got snubbed and left off. Nominees: Best Actress
Best Supporting Actress
Best Visual Effects

Going into break Arrow usually pretty strong but, The Devil's Greatest Trick is uncharacteristically weak for this show. We end up having a lot of questions about a lot of stupid choices made with this story.
The Flash and Arrow are both struggling right now. We know they can do better and we hope the run up to the end for both shows is much better. We also talk about the Venom trailer and how it was exactly how we thought it would be. Watch Kriss' reaction video to the trailer here. Supergirl Season 3x13 Review and Black Lightning Season 1x4 Review - Radios Be Snitching - Super Tuesday Recap
On this week's Supergirl, we have a case of Kara and Alex being the epitome of the 53% and Mon El joining in as the other half of the Trump supporting squad to break down the door of a sister who was minding her own business and jamming to some 90s tunes. Mon El also gets a CW pep talk from J'onn about his conflicting feelings for Kara and Imra. Lena also seems to know what the deal is with Samantha, which causes some to wonder...what side will Lena fall on? On Black Lightning this week, Lady Eve has a heart to heart while it seems she's dissecting/embalming a formerly dead individual who comes back to life. What you know about that #BlackGirlMagic? Of course, she had to balance that out with a little bit of an ism, talking to Tobias about being an individual with albinism and being magical. At the same time, we have Jefferson trying to figure out who is supplying the kids at the school with the pill form of the super soldier serum and Anissa feeling herself while taking on some of those same individuals. We have so many questions with this episode. But first, we talk about Kriss & Dpalm's #VillainAgenda2020 plans. Hey, they're now making fully functional Batman suits, hoverboards and flamethrowers. We're trying to get in on the ground floor of franchising out super villains. But onto this episode of The Flash. True Colors could have been and should have been a much better episode. But much like many of the episodes that have happened since coming back from break, the writing is lazy and rushed and things just don't make sense. Oddly enough, while some will definitely not like the amount of Ralph in this episode, he's not the problem.
And there's a lot more that doesn't make sense. It's frustrating because big picture, we liked what this episode was doing. We just don't like how it was executed and that's becoming a problem AGAIN for The Flash. We end the episode discussing all the trailers that have been released the last couple weeks:

Stray bullets are flying everywhere this week. Random assassins caught strays on Supergirl, where Lillian Luthor returns to avenge her daughter, attempting to take out Morgan Edge. On Black Lightning, in the wake of Lawanda's funeral, Tobias plans to make a statement during a planned march. The shows continue to be good, but we took some issue with some of the directing choices on Black Lightning this week that caused some confusion. This did not take away from our enjoyment of either episode.

Agents of Shield Season 5x10 Review - The Agents Make it Back to the Present...at a Cost - Super Tuesday Recap
As always, Agents of Shield is at it's most fucked up when its either going into a break or coming out of one. Honestly, this might be a really deadly 3 episode arc since this episode goes into a month long break, then we come back from one then have the 100th episode. Expect a lot of tears forthcoming. In this episode, we were right about YoYo being the seer, Coulson is dying and while the Agents make it back to their timeline, it's not without some casualties. Dek and Enoch go out like heroes while Pebbles...I mean Flint, might just end up putting the world back together piece by piece. Some things we have to think about going forward:
We truly have no idea what's going to happen next and it's so exciting. The team has one final chance to return to their timeline, but their actions may have deadly consequences.

The theme of Arrow Season 6 has to be "Oliver is right" or "Just listen to Oliver". It's easy to pin down why people might not be too happy with this season because it feels like a rehash of previous seasons. But the truth is, we're getting a season that shows not only the growth of Oliver Queen but also why he's in charge. Yes, the new team is annoying and they are making a bunch of bone headed mistakes but these are mistakes that Oliver used to make and he's trying to show them the right way. Growth is Oliver not putting an arrow in Renee (he deserves it) or rubbing it in to Dinah that she made the wrong call to go after Vincent instead of stopping the bomb. The team is going to learn some harsh lessons real soon. Oh and sorry Quentin, Earth-2 Laurel is now a full villain. Ain't no saving her now. Oliver continues to battle Cayden James; when Dinah and Oliver have a major disagreement, one of their own is put in danger.

So since coming back from break we’ve been pretty hard on The Flash but Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash put the show back in the right direction. First, the preview for the episode didn’t really do it justice. This episode was more even toned and less campy than The Elongated Knight Rises. Speaking of that, this was the right amount of Ralph Dibny. He wasn’t the center focus like last episode, he wasn’t overbearing but he worked when used. There were three big things that worked for us with this episode:
We definitely enjoyed this episode. There are still some issues (inconsistencies with Barry’s powers) and the end of the episode with Warden Wolfe should guarantee that Barry has to reveal his identity to the public (but it won’t), but overall, this puts The Flash back on track for us. The team battle a meta who can shrink anything he touches; Cecile's pregnancy gives her temporary powers.

The first season of Fox’s The Gifted has come to a close and what a season. If you told me that a X-Men TV show without the actual X-Men with the focus on a family with two mutant children would be the best live action X-Men we’ve ever gotten, I would have called you crazy. But here we are. The entire season was great but the last 3 episodes put the icing on the cake. It sets up next season to have a showdown between the two ideologies that are core to the X-Men/Mutant story without having Professor X or Magneto on screen. Topics:

We're quickly approaching the end of the first arc of this season of Agents of Shield so you know that means heart break is on the way. Agents of Shield does a great job of ensemble storytelling. We get two separate focuses, one on the team on the surface and the second with Mack & YoYo leading the resistance. On the surface we see Daisy struggling with the belief that she could be the one that causes the destruction of the earth. Should she get her powers back? Can she just be Daisy Johnson and not Quake? Oh and Fitz finally freaks out over the realization that they're in a time loop and therefore things can't change. With Mack and YoYo, we get zombie Tess and Kasius revealing that he knows who YoYo is. So now the real question: Does he have a past version of Mack or YoYo locked up in that room telling him what's going to happen? This show is great and we all need to be prepared for the heart break that is eventually coming. We all know it is.

We finally get more information on why Cayden James has beef with Oliver and it makes us ask, who is setting Oliver up? As much as folks say Arrow is rehashing old stories, they still have managed to add in small changes. Oliver is letting the new team try to spread their wings even though he knows they're wrong. Showing a bit of growth. Also Felicity gives William a pretty good speech on why Oliver has to put the suit on. We also talk about why Arrow has been better than The Flash the last two seasons. I know folks have been calling for Arrow to end but we explain why The Flash has the same issues as Arrow but worse. William gets caught in the cross hairs as Oliver attempts to stop Cayden James with just the original Team Arrow.

Either you're in or you're out on Ralph Dibny. That's pretty much the takeaway from The Elongated Knight Rises. If you don't like Ralph, then this campy filler episode is a drag. If you do like him, then this was a nice distraction from the DeVoe storyline which has been pretty dark. We debate whether folks are being too harsh on Ralph because it's not what they expected or if it's just that bad. One thing we do agree on though is that the scenes with Barry in jail just don't make any sense. Last week Barry was so fast he had a full conversation with Iris in the courtroom that no one saw. This week he's worried about being spotted by cameras in the prison? None of it makes sense and we feel that they could easily solve these issues with simple throwaway lines. Finally we talk about how the "mystery girl" (It's Dawn Allen folks) fits into the storyline and what it could mean for this season or the next. Oh and if you're gonna take on Bill Goldberg in prison, use the shank.

For all the talk about Arrow doing the same thing over again, we do need to give some credit for the changes they make. Sure, in Divided, Oliver is back to being a lone wolf. And we still don’t know what his plan was (spoiler: he had no plan). But the end of the episode didn’t end how it has in the past. The new team splitting off onto their own is a new development. So credit where credit is due. That said…we’d be okay with this split if the new team wasn’t 100% wrong. Dinah and Rene have no ground to stand on. Rene’s betrayal is what led to this whole thing yet she’s more upset with Oliver? It’s just really weird and doesn’t make sense. Hey, Arrow still has some of the best choreographed fight scenes in the Arrowverse though. Listen to get our full thoughts on this episode. Make sure you subscribe to Super Tuesday Recap so you don't miss a review. Oliver discovers one of Cayden's secrets; he decides to team up with an unlikely ally to defeat him; Dinah spends time with Vince.

The Flash comes back from break with what might be their worst episode of any season. Trial of The Flash should have been a great emotional episode that shows the duality of Barry’s existence. Instead, the episode is pretty worthless. This episode is just very frustrating. In this review, Kriss and Dpalm talk about the narrative decisions that are hurting the Flash and question if 22 episodes are just too many for this show. Also, Kriss makes a solid argument for why having Barry reveal his identity is the shot in the arm this show needs. ******** Sign up for MTR Premium ******** Shop on our Amazon Page for gear we use in interviews/videos, Funkos, Comics and more: https://www.amazon.com/shop/ Save on a new set of earbuds: Contact Us:

CW's shows are back from the winter break and that means that Shanna & The Doctor are here to review not only Supergirl, but the latest addition to CW's superhero lineup, Black Lightning. Both episodes show CW's commitment to super hero content. Having just added Supergirl last season, this season CW is adding even more heroes to the show with the Legion of Superheroes. And Black Lightning represents an entirely different direction with not only lead black characters but black show runners and writers. So how did both episodes turn out? Listen to the full review to find out. Also make sure you join the MTR Network Facebook group to interact with the hosts and other fans to get in on the discussion! On Supergirl, Kara languishes in a coma while Brainiac-5 (Jesse Rath, No Tomorrow) attempts to help guide her back. Meanwhile, the DEO works to develop a plan of attack against Reign, who is bringing her own brand of justice to National City. On the premiere of Black Lightning, we meet the Pierce family in what has to be the Blackest introduction to a superhero hero in forever! Phenom is joined by Joi from Black Girl Nerds to talk about the movie Proud Mary. This is a film that really got a raw deal. Screen Gems and Sony didn't bother to really promote the film. They did some really specific, targeted trailers and a billboard or two in "urban areas" but it never got the same treatment that Atomic Blonde or even The Commuter. There were no Thursday viewings for the movie and no advance screenings for critics. It would be easy to dismiss it as "well its just not good" but...neither is The Commuter and that still got promotion. And in terms of quality and if the film is good or not, Phenom and Joi have a lot to say about that. Short answer: It's worth checking out and Taraji P. Henson deserves a lot better.

The Doctor, Ashanti, friend of the show Tai, and Ejiro from Project Fandom come together to discuss season 1 of Netflix's hit series The Crown. Ejiro provides us with a UK perspective given her years living overseas, as we compare the characterization provided by the show to the reality of the British monarchy. We come to the conclusion that the modern British monarchy should probably just end with Queen Elizabeth's reign since she's transformed it in such a way that can't be topped, and it's always good to go out on a high note. It might seem like you should pass over, but we encourage you to give it a watch-it is that compelling. Follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II's reign and the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century. That time of week again: Agents of Shield review time! So, Kasius didn’t die but he’s the only one that we thought died that survived. It works out though because we get a lot more background information on why Kasius was exiled. And we really get a lot more information on Sinara as well who seems to be the real dangerous one. It’s funny that a character that has barely spoken all season is the one that scares us (even moreso when she finally does speak). We also love the fact that while all this is going really bad, the agents don’t lose their sense of humor. Fitz being a little upset that he’s not given enough credit for all he went through to get to the future. Flint and Mack bond and we’re back to black fatherhood moments. We end the review with Dpalm’s theories on the end of Infinity War, what Avengers 4 is about and how it all ties into season 5 of Agents of Shield. ******** Sign up for MTR Premium ******** Shop on our Amazon Page for gear we use in interviews/videos, Funkos, Comics and more: https://www.amazon.com/shop/insanityreport Save on a new set of earbuds: Contact Us:

Let's cut right to the chase: The Commuter is a terrible film. Maybe at one point there was an interesting concept here but the execution was just predictable trash. It's not even even one of those "enjoyable" bad movies either. You just spend your time calling out exactly what's going to happen next and glancing at your watch hoping for it to end. But the real tragedy of this film is that they're going to use Liam Neeson's name and the perception that he's a "draw at the box-office" to keep making films like this. It's one of the greatest lies that Hollywood tells right now. They do a film on a shoestring budget, bring in a known name (most likely an aging white male actor), put out a terrible film but the film makes good profits because the budget was so low. And so continues the cycle of pretending that the actor is good for drawing people to the films. Listen to our full review of The Commuter as we go into spoilers for why this film is so bad. Towards the end we then look at the list of highest paid male actors compared to highest paid female actors and it's a travesty.

Back from a short break, Agents of Shield season 5 continues to impress. Episode 6, Fun & Games, Clark Gregg takes over as director to give us an episode that might as well be called "Everyone Dies". We weren't prepared for all the people that get taken out this episode. We should have been though because Agents of Shield has never shied away from a body count. Fitz is finally reunited with Simmons and makes us realize that none of us love anyone as much as Fitz loves Simmons. We also get some great fight scenes with May vs Ben and Daisy vs Sinara. We love the way that they keep evolving how they have Daisy use her powers. And we get more information on Flint as he's rescued by YoYo after going through terrigenesis. This episode also pulls off something that can be tough for shows and that's seemingly killing off the villain and replacing them with someone else. It works for this episode because Kaisus's brother seems to be even more trouble than he is. Plus we still have Sinara around and she's scarier than both. Also, we're pleased to announce that we will be hosting two Black Panther Screenings opening weekend. One in LA and one in DC. We're hoping tickets will go on sale Friday, January 12th at Noon est. Below is the theater information for each screener:

The Shape of Water is Guillermo Del Toro’s best film since Pan’s Labyrinth and quite honestly, might be his best film ever. First off, Sally Hawkins pulls off an amazing performance as Elisa. Hawkins sells a character who is mute using all of her acting talents outside of speech and she nails it. With this performance, Hawkins is a clear front runner for Best Actress. And she’s not alone in putting in a wonderful performance. Michael Shannon’s Richard Strickland is truly a hideous man who is the true monster and villain of this film. Shannon’s character continually morphs into a despicable human being throughout the film. Richard Jenkins, Octavia Spencer and Michael Stuhlbarg also put in great performances. ******** Sign up for MTR Premium ******** Shop on our Amazon Page for gear we use in interviews/videos, Funkos, Comics and more: https://www.amazon.com/shop/insanityreport Save on a new set of earbuds: Contact Us:

We're back with another movie review, this time to review the movie Downsizing, starring Matt Damon, Hong Chau, Kristen Wig, Jason Sudeikis and Christoph Waltz. The first thing to know about Downsizing is that the trailers are a bit of a lie. Some actors like Jason Sudeikis appear often in the trailer but have smaller roles and then there's characters like Hong Chau's that barely appear and yet have a significant role in this movie. Over all Downsizing is an interesting concept of a film that should be much better than what it actually is. Had the focus been more on Chau's character and less on Damon as well as more accurate trailers, this movie might be received more warmly A social satire in which a guy realizes he would have a better life if he were to shrink himself. ******** Sign up for MTR Premium ******** Shop on our Amazon Page for gear we use in interviews/videos, Funkos, Comics and more: https://www.amazon.com/shop/insanityreport Save on a new set of earbuds: Contact Us:

Welcome to Level 35! We're back to discuss this week's episode of Agents of Shield, A Life Earned. This is also the first episode since the news of the Disney buyout of 21st Century Fox and so we have plenty to talk about. First, for Agents of SHIELD, Coulson and May uncover what Kasius and the Kree are up to and it's not good. Mack remains the moral center for the team and we have to remember how painful the Framework was for him last season. There's also a really great tense scene with Kasius questioning Jemma and Daisy. Oh and Fitz is back (or is he?). On the Disney buyout side, we discuss a lot from the concern trolling to how we could see the X-Men and Fantastic Four enter into the MCU. Typically Arrow goes into its breaks pretty strong but we're kinda disappointed in episode 9 of season 2, Irreconcilable Differences. This episode felt like a big step back for the character of Oliver Queen into some behavior we thought we moved on from. It also felt like too much of a retread of plot points from previous seasons. There are a few small changes to the story that could have been made to give this a more fresh take on the "betrayed by someone on the team" angle and also protect the character changes they've made to Oliver. Also the reveal of the team Cayden James has put around himself to go at Team Arrow seems a bit odd and doesn't have the impact we think they were going for. We're also trying something new with this episode. First up, we're combining the review into just one episode instead of two separate ones. We know most people listen to both and instead of clogging the feeds with two separate downloads we figured it would be easier to just put up one episode. We will have time stamps below for those that want to skip ahead. Also, we're going to be doing a better job of including other information and general discussion in our episode. For this episode we open up talking about Tom King's latest issue of Batman and how it really nails both Batman and Superman. We end the episode with Dpalm giving his idea of how Warner Brothers can fix the DCEU. Check it out! Oh and we did the show on Facebook Live. Don't worry, you didn't miss an announcement. It was a last minute decision by me (Kriss) to test out going Live. We're going to be running some tests for the next few shows so that hopefully we can start doing them more frequently in 2018. But before that we discuss our current experiences watching screeners for this year's Oscar Contenders, some films you should keep an eye out for, the beautiful artwork sent to us for Get Out and more. This is an early preview of what the Movie Trailer Reviews podcast will be providing in 2018 as we try to expand our shows beyond just reviews. As for the review...Steven Spielberg's The Post is an easy contender for Best Picture this year. Aside from starring two heavy hitters like Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, the films subject matter is is extremely relevant in the era of Trump. The film follows the story of how the Washington Post became a national paper thanks to the publishing of the Pentagon Papers and their fight against the Nixon White House which sought to shut them down. I will be honest and didn't realize that Tommy Wiseau's The Room had a cult following like it does. I mean I should have, but I tend to forget truly terrible movies like The Room. But I quickly found out that The Room is a pretty big deal to some as our screener for The Disaster Artist, was packed. The Disaster Artist is basically James Franco and his friends recreating The Room and telling the story about how Wiseau and his friend Greg made one of the worst movies to exist. There's something weirdly ironic about the film about a bad film being a great film. But that's where we are. James Franco actually shows a lot of acting chops to pull off how terrible and confusing Wiseau is. This is a hilariously good movie about the worst film ever made. AGENTS OF SHIELD IS BACK! We knew that season 5 of Agents of Shield would take us to space and face the agents off against aliens but not like this. Not only is the team (most of them) in space but they've also traveled through time and are in a future with a destroyed earth. The first two episodes answers some questions but like many Agents of Shield episodes, leaves us with even more questions. It might be Thanksgiving but Arrow wasn't giving us any breaks as they put out episode 7 of season 6, Thanksgiving out on it's regular time and night. And it wasn't just a filler episode as a lot of things happen. Agent Watson makes her move and has Oliver arrested for being the Green Arrow. This probably would have had more impact if they did a better job of setting Watson's motivations like they have Jace Turner on The Gifted. Instead she just comes off as mean for no reason. We also get some internal strife in the team between Curtis & Felicity and then Diggle and Oliver. We discuss who we think was right and wrong in both these cases. Cayden James also sets up the team. The one good thing for the team is that Thea wakes up from her coma. Which leads to us discussing how the show handles some of its female characters and what they can do to fix it. So first things first, it almost feels as if these episodes were filmed along with the first two because they seem to be shot a lot better and that some time (and money) was put into them. And Triton returns and we have to apologize for all our Fish-Boy jokes because he's...actually pretty good. For some reason the show decided that the actor and character with the best fight scenes should be "killed" in the first 5 minutes of the season then rushed back out of the blue in the final 2 episodes. It's decisions like that leave us scratching our heads as to why this entire season was managed the way it was. If the show was more like the final 2 episodes and less like the first 6, Leave a 5 Star Review for us on the Super Tuesday feed and we'll read it on the next show! For a show that has no problem having fun and comedic moments, Welcome to the Jungle is a pretty serious episode for Legends of Tomorrow. Considering the horrors and tragedies of Vietnam, it's nice to see that this show found a way to honor that seriousness while still making the episode feel like it fits with the series. Seeing Mick have to come to deal with the fact that he might be the real monster and not his father is a reminder of how far this character has come from the crazy person he was in season 1. The revelation that these "random" anachronisms might not be so random because the legends keep running into either their younger selves or relatives has us wondering about what could really be going on. Amaya trying to connect with Grodd and in the process realize that Kuasa might also be a victim of what was done to her and not just evil because she was born that way will lead to some interesting things when she comes face to face with Grodd and Kuasa again. This episode was great and they sidelined Sara for the whole episode. Imagine that. Listen to get our full thoughts on this episode. This episode of The Flash, Therefore I Am, is pretty significant considering it drops the week of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Barry finally confronts DeVoe and we learn about The Thinker's origin through flashbacks. The flashbacks are handled pretty well and give context to who DeVoe is and how he fits into Barry's world. It's handled pretty well. We're excited to see how Barry handles dealing with a villain who is going to challenge him intellectually and not just in a foot race. Mon El returns and begins acting in a suspicious way. We discover it's because he's been gone 7 years in his time, not the 7 months as we know it, and got a new wife but doesn't want to be a grown up and tell Kara. In other words, these two don't know how to have a grown up conversation and them splitting up is the best thing since Betty White. In more interesting plot developments, Samantha gets her Henry Gates on as she seeks to discover why she appears to be developing supernatural abilities and Papa J'onzz gives J'onn some life lessons. Kriss & Dpalm are back to review season 6, episode 6 of Arrow, Promises Kept. Once again this show surprises us by having a quick turnaround on Diggle coming clean about using the experimental drug. This also has us worried that something more sinister is around the corner. On the Slade/Oliver side, while we enjoyed the Slade moments, the stuff with his son Joseph felt a bit unearned. But we think we'll be seeing more of Joe later on this season as well as more of Slade. Listen to get our full thoughts on this episode. Make sure you subscribe to Super Tuesday Recap so you don't miss a review. As Slade continues to uncover clues about his son's last few years, Oliver makes a big decision. We're back to review more episodes of The Gifted and we're asking the hard hitting questions: What does Dreamer's breath smell like? Ok so that's more like Kriss asking that (and other ridiculous things) but we do have fun reviewing/discussing episodes 4 through 7 of The Gifted. We talk about how the Strucker's work and how it really represents a lot of the things we've seen from X-Men comics. We get into Jace's terrible tragedy and how he's still struggling with trying to track down people he thinks are criminals but not going too far (like with Doctor Campbell). Oh and we get into all the messiness of Dreamer/Johnny/Clarice and how well Lorna & Marko are together. Justice League is out and well...yeah. By now you've seen the reviews (even Kriss's early one hopefully) and you're probably wondering if you should see it. Well, that's what this review is for. Kriss and Phenom discuss the many problems with the film (spoiler-free) but why that should discourage you from checking it out. Bottom Line: Warner Brothers and DC seem to be very self-aware with this film and are attempting to fix the problems. But timing (and the director) didn't leave much time to course correct in a non-messy way. And that's how we get Justice League. We discuss what works and what doesn't. In addition to that, we also talk about the Rotten Tomatoes controversy with them withholding the score for Justice League until a few hours before release. It's bad and unethical and Rotten Tomatoes should be called out for it. Sponsors: TweakedAudio.com using the code ‘reviews’ to get 33% off & free shipping. Contact Us: |

Legends of Tomorrow Review: The Ladies Take Over While Jax & Stein Go Freaky Friday - Super Tuesday Recap
Legends of Tomorrow season 3 episode 6, Helen Hunt, is a well-timed episode that offers up a chance for the lades of Legends of Tomorrow to have their own #Feminism episode like the ladies did on The Flash last week. It takes on the fact that Men are Trash and will blame women for their problems, the toxic nature of men in Hollywood and even gives us a Wonder Woman easter egg that pretty much establishes the Amazon Warrior in the universe. All that and we still get Stein & Jax switching bodies on some Freaky Friday stuff. Listen to get our full recap/review. Dpalm is back and so the Super Tuesday Recap team is whole again. We discuss episode 6 of Season 4 of The Flash, When Harry Met Harry. While this episode is definitely funny, it also felt a bit off. The show tried to treat this villain with a bit more seriousness and sympathy but it instead felt like a miss. The seriousness crammed in between Dibny being over the top and Harry & Cisco dealing with the "Council of Wells" just made the episode feel off balanced. Still, we enjoyed the way Barry is trying to teach Ralph about being a hero and Cisco forcing Harry to realize his biggest problem is that he doesn't even like himself. Listen for our full discussion and make sure you send us your comic book questions/recommendations for our mailbag episode that will be recorded next week. Send your email to Mailbag@MTRNetwork.Net. Pixar does it again. Coco is a another great animated film that kids will love and will win over adults. Pixar and Disney have really moved to diversify their animated films and this film embraces its Mexican characters by immersing them in the culture and having them voiced by an authentic and diverse cast. This film definitely has some adult themes in it and gets very real towards the end that might have you tearing up. The music is also a big sell. It's as authentic as it's cast. Kriss is joined by Justin (@LJay90) to review/discuss the latest episode of Arrow. Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke returns in the latest episode of Arrow and it's everything we've been waiting for. Slade and Oliver team up to try to rescue Slade's son Joseph but when the diplomatic way fails, Deathstroke the Terminator lives up to his name. Let's just say there's a lot of swords going through people while they're also being shot up. But more than just that, we get the reveal of who Vigilante is and while it's someone we never suspected, it works out pretty well to set up Dinah for some much needed character development. After the review we also discuss Disney trying to buy 20th Century Fox and why people should stop thinking that Disney would a) water down Fox's R-rated comic book movies and b) that the R-rating is what made Deadpool a good film. And we also discuss Brian Michael Bendis leaving Marvel for DC and what problems could come fromt hat. Listen to get our full thoughts on this episode. Kriss is joined by Tim (@peoplescrtic) to review Murder on the Orient Express, a film based off the novel by Agatha Christie. This is an interesting film because Kenneth Branagh both directs the film and plays the lead. And while it's definitely not the first time a director has played the lead in their own film, it feels different with a film of this scale. We also think that while Branagh does a good job as both director and actor in this film, it also leads to the rest of the cast not being used to their full potential. The Flash continues to correct the wrongs of last season by being fun and taking changes. In episode 5 of season 4, Girls Night Out, the show takes a chance by not only not having Barry in the suit but not even having him use his powers. Instead we get an episode that focuses heavily on the ladies of Team Flash: Iris, Caitlin, Cecile and a special appearance by Arrow's Felicity. But this isn't just a funny filler episode. This episode helps fix some of the show's shortcoming when it comes to Caitlin and Killer Frost. Also, it's great to see Katee Sackoff (Battlestar Galactica) back in action and her character Amunet introduces us to another meta created by The Thinker. Kriss is joined by Shanna who is filling in for Dpalm (Congrats on the wedding) this week for our Arrow Review. This episode, Reversal, shows Oliver switching roles with Felicity. Oliver finds himself as the man on the outside as Felicity and the team work to stop Cayden James who has resurfaced since Felicity helped him escape last season with Helix. One thing Arrow has worked on the last two seasons is making Oliver Queen grow as a person and a character. We're really seeing that this season, particularly these last two episodes. Oliver has switched from needing the support of Diggle and Felicity to being their support system and helping them the way they helped him. We're still impressed that the show has taken the risk of not just having Oliver out of the suit for these two episodes but having Diggle fully integrated as being the Green Arrow. We know it won't last and that the fall for Diggle (and the whole team) will be rough. But it's still been fun watching them try something new. Listen to get our full thoughts on this episode. Kara is forced to face her past and her demons when a misguided spiritualist (Chad Lowe, Pretty Little Liars) develops a following dedicated to worshipping her. Samantha struggles with balancing motherhood and her new job, and Alex faces the elephant in her relationship with Maggie that threatens their future. The best part of this episode is the lack of a clear villain. It highlights the internal battle Supergirl and Superman face-the burden of who to save, remembering all those saved and those lost, and what that burden does to one's psyche. Our THOR RAGNAROK Review is here! Thor: Ragnarok is the best reviewed comic book movie of 2017 so far and is just the best comic book movie of the year period. Director Taika Waititi takes one of Marvel's weaker properties (movie wise) and delivers a hit with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson and Mark Ruffalo. The movie does a great job of balancing the humor with real stakes. Hela is a great villain and kills A LOT of people. Tessa Tompson is amazing as Valkyrie and talking Hulk is everything people have been waiting for. Listen to our full non-spoiler review to find out why we like this movie so much. |

Kriss and Dpalm are back to review the latest episode of Inhumans, The Gentleman's Name is Gorgon. There's no reason to beat around the bush, Inhumans is clearly limping it's way to the finale of this first (and probably only) season. There is more Crystal in this episode and we get to see her use her powers a little bit more (kinda) but Isabelle Cornish really is struggling with her acting with the character. The rest of the episode isn't necessarily bad but it does feel like the show is cutting corners because of the condensed season and the pacing and story telling are suffering. Maximus dealing with Tibor's betrayal should have been a more interesting plot but instead it just feels cheap and unearned. With only two more episodes left can Inhumans right the ship and stick the landing? We'll see. Listen to get our full review. Arrow shocked us both by actually doing what we hoped the Flash would do with Kid Flash and is actually letting Diggle put on the hood and lead the team as the Green Arrow. We have two crew members that are tied through elements of the past (Zari and Amaya) and have a connection to the villain. We're way more confident that they'll pull this off this season than the first though. Mick Rory is the MVP of this episode. He has some great one liners and reactions to situations. We're back with another review/discussion about The Flash. This season has done a really good job of resetting the show to be more fun while still having serious moments. Hazard turned out to be a pretty formidable foe. We also got to see more of The Thinker's involvement with the new Metas which has a Wells Season 1 feel to it but still fresh. When it was first announced that Fox would be doing a X-Men TV show, a lot of us were rightfully skeptical. Fox has had the rights to the X-Men for over 17 years and while their animated cartoons certainly resonated, their live action movies leave a lot to be desired for the fans of the X-Men. But after three episodes, The Gifted is proving to be the live action X-Men we've been waiting for. Sure, they don't have costumes and the X-Men and Brotherhood aren't on the show now (they've "disappeared"), but the show nails everything that makes the X-Men so great. From the allegory to civil rights to how emotions affect mutant's powers. It's all in there. The Inhumans is in a weird place. There are certain elements of this episode that work really well and make sense in a shorter season. But then there are other things that clearly would have benefited from at least 13 episodes. We think that the relationships on the show would have benefited from a longer season. This episode had much better chemistry between Black Bolt and Medusa than when we first saw them together in the pilot. And Gorgon & Karnak together are also pretty good. There's a good show here, we just wish it had been given the proper chance to develop. Listen to get our full review and make sure you subscribe on iTunes/Stitcher/Google. Kriss and Dpalm are back to review Arrow, this week with episode 2 of season 6, Tribute. So far we're enjoying this season and we think the show is doing a good job of avoiding the obvious minefields we thought they would hit (William on the show could be a disaster). We like how William is handled this episode and we also like that the question is finally asked about how some of Team Arrow is making their money. We have questions about how Diggle will be written with his injury, but overall we're enjoying it. Make sure you listen to the episode for our full review. Anatoly returns to Star City with a sinister agenda as Oliver tries to balance being the mayor, the Green Arrow and William's father. So, this review starts with a bit of a debate between Kriss and Dpalm. Kriss doesn’t think that the writing is doing the Legends any favors by making them seem really incompetent (Particularly Nate, Ray and Jax this episode). Dpalm makes the point that after last season the show has earned our trust and we should just enjoy the ride. Despite the difference of opinions we still find things we can agree on with this episode. We first start off with: That Black Panther trailer. Kriss and Dpalm talk about why we need to just let people have their fun and excitement for Black Panther. It’s been a long time coming and we deserve to be happy, particularly considering that everything we’ve seen has surpassed our expectations. Even then, it shouldn’t matter if the film is mediocre or not, the historical relevance of this film is already enough to be excited about. Then we move on to reviewing the actually episode. The Flash so far is back on track this season by focusing on what made the first season so enjoyable: Having Fun. We got some great uses of Barry's powers this episode (taking apart a moving car and stopping each piece of grenade shrapnel). But we also got much better writing for the relationships. Barry and Iris have always had communication issues and with Barry back, we could have gotten another season of stretching that out. Instead the show finally addresses one of the biggest issues from the last 3 seasons and does it in a pretty good way. Plus we get Cisco in the doghouse, Barry's new hi-tech suit and more. Inhumans is slowly finding its footing but with the shorter season, there's not much time left to rebound completely. That said, episode 4, Make Way For...Medusa is probably the best episode so far. There are still some issues with this episode. We wish that they focused only on Maximus, Black Bolt and Medusa this episode. That doesn't mean the other scenes were bad (well, except for Crystal) but it would have been nice just to stay focused on those three without making the episode feel overly stuffed. But that's a byproduct of a shorter season. Listen to get our full review and make sure you subscribe on iTunes/Stitcher/Google. The last of our returning shows is here, Arrow Season 6. After the great season 5, we were a little nervous about how this season would start off but so far so good. The advances to Oliver's character from last season seem to be sticking and it's almost jarring not seeing a broken Oliver. The rest of the team however, does have a lot of demons. From Diggle to Quentin...even Oliver's son William (although Kriss thinks William needs to get his shit together). Check out our full review. Oliver deals with the fallout of the explosion on the island. Leave a 5 Star Review for us on the Super Tuesday feed and we'll read it on the next show! On the surface Happy Death Day just seems like another Groundhog Day rip off that is bound to be stupid and suck. So imagine our surprise when...we actually enjoyed it. This film is extremely self aware and so it avoids a lot of the pitfalls of other teen PG-13 horror films. The writing is pretty smart, it's funny and bottom line, entertaining. Not much more you can ask for. Listen to our full non-spoiler review for all the details on why you should check this film out. Legends of Tomorrow returns for season 3 by continuing to focus on its strong suits. Aruba-Con sees the Legends being “fired” by Rip Hunter who has now formed the Time Bureau to handle all time anomalies. But we quickly see that Captain Sara Lance and the Legends can be just as useful as they can be destructive. As Mick said “Sometimes we screw things up for the better.” Legends of Tomorrow continues to be the “fun” show out of all the CW DC TV shows. We get Sara kicking ass and beating up Julius Caesar, Nate and Ray bro’ing out and Rip Hunter becoming exasperated with the group he used to lead but knowing he can’t really control them (but might need them). But there are also serious moments like the moments between Jax and Stein. All in all its great to have Legends of Tomorrow back and we can’t wait to see how this season unfolds. We’re back with another season of The Flash. We were disappointed with the end of season 3 of The Flash but we’re confident that season 4 will turn it around. And the first episode, The Flash Reborn, starts off pretty strong. The writers seem to be course correctly out the gate with several of the problems we had last season:
Now that’s not to say this episode was perfect. We think they rushed the return of Barry a bit. It would have been nice to stretch it out a bit more and see the team of Iris, Wally and Cisco working together more. But overall it was a pretty solid premiere episode.
