We've made it to "The Book of Rebellion" and Khalil and Jennifer are on the run from Tobias and Jen's parents, respectively. At first, Jefferson and Lynn assume Khalil has kidnapped Jennifer until Anissa lets them know that Khalil and Jen have been texting since episode one this season.

Khalil and Jennifer think they are truly Romeo & Juliet so despite the fact that their road trip starts with a shoot-out and continues with being chased by an assassin, Jennifer runs from Black Lightning and Thunder every time they show up to help.

Lynn is at home spiraling. She's gone off the Henny and between her daughter running away and having killed 14 teens, she is not in a good place. She rallies briefly and talks to Gambi (AKA the Other Woman) so she can track down Khalil's dad just to learn that he had an apartment. This leads exactly nowhere.

While his assassin Cutter (Kearran Giovanni) is tracking the teens, Tobias is making new moves and enlists the genius of Todd Green (RJ Cyler, Sierra Burgess is a Loser). Green is a boy genius who is missing out on grant opportunities because of racism and classism and Tobias is using that to win him to his side. Also in the final moments we're introduced to a new unnamed meta played by The Chi's Tosin Morohunfola. Tobias is also putting two and obvious together, and wondering why Black Lightning always seems invested when the Pierce girls are involved.

These two episodes give us a lot of good character development for Jennifer who is also learning to control her powers and she proves herself to be incredibly resourceful. That being said, Black Lightning still struggles this season. It's good tv but not great tv. Especially compared to it's CW peers. We'll see you in the new year and hopefully Black Lightning will bring it's A game when we return.

Time to end 2018 with the final Character Corner subject of 2018: Aquaman. The King of the Seven Seas is getting his first solo film this month and so we're taking a look at the history behind Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. Aquaman is another DC character that has been around since the Golden Age and has seen a lot of drastic changes not only to his origin but his supporting cast as well. He's a character that's struggle to get respect, with many people thinking his only powers are talking to fish and that he's pretty useless outside of water. DC didn't do the character any favors by giving the character the weakness of needing to be in water at least once every hour. All that changed in 1990 when Peter David took over writing Aquaman. First he started by building a foundation for not only Arthur's lineage but also telling the story of how Atlantis became an advanced civilization under the sea. He then takes Arthur on a journey of not only understanding who he is but what it means to be a leader & king. Also, this is where we get the iconic 90's look of Aquaman: Harpoon Handed Aquaman.

Listen as we break down the early history of Aquaman, a quick run through of the different eras of comic books and then talk about how Peter David brought some respect to Aquaman's name.

Issues:

  • More Fun Comics #73 - First Appearance of Golden Age Aquaman
  • Adventure Comics #229 - First Appearance of Topo
  • Adventure Comics #260 - First Appearance of Silver Age Aquaman
  • Adventure Comics #269 - First Appearance of Garth/Aqualad
  • Brave & the Bold #28 - Founding member of the Justice League
  • Aquaman #11 - First appearance of Mera
  • Aquaman #18 - Becomes King of Atlantis; Marries Mera
  • Aquaman #23 - Arthur Jr (AquaBaby)
  • Aquaman #29 - First Appearance of Orm/Oceanmaster
  • Aquaman #35 - First Appearance of Black Manta
  • Adventure Comics #452 - Black Manta kills Aquababy
  • Legend of Aquaman Special (Aquaman Special #1) - Rewrote Aquaman's origin post crisis
  • Peter David's Run

So...Mortal Engines happened. It continues the trend of studios attaching a big name as a producer (Peter Jackson), handing the directing off to someone with little experience, shoveling boat loads of money into it, only for it to abandon the source material and turn into a steaming pile of garbage. So who is to blame? And why do studios do this? Mortal Engines will get terrible reviews and flop this weekend. The cliff hanger ending in the movie will never be followed up on. What's it going to take for these genre films based off of young adult novels to be treated with some respect? Ro, Brandon and Kriss discuss.

You already know what it is. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is not only the best comic book films of the year, but it's one of the best films of this year. There is an amazingly talented voice cast for this movie and the script nails what it means to be Spider-Man. Make no mistake, this is Mile Morales' movie but you'll love all the other characters too and want to see more of them. Stan Lee's cameo is probably his best and most relevant cameo. Run do not walk, to see this film this weekend.

It's that time of year again: The Annual Arrowverse Crossover is here. Kriss, Dpalm, Shanna and The Doctor discuss the three part Elseworlds crossover. There's a lot to love about this year's crossover and we're even more excited for how everything has been leading to next year's Crisis on Infinite Earths.

We Discuss:

  • Why does the CW do the Justice League better than the movies?
  • Our favorite moments with Barry & Oliver switching identities
  • The perfect Superman & Lois
  • Batwoman and Gotham officially joining the Arrowverse
  • The growth of Oliver Queen
  • What did Oliver give up to save Barry and Kara?
  • The endless possibilities with Crisis on Infinite Earths

and more! Make sure you listen and subscribe to Super Tuesday Recap so you don't miss an episode!

Do you all really expect us to review this episode or do you just want us to laugh at how ridiculously awesome it was? Custodians of Chronology, Sirens of Space Time and Puppets of Tomorrow. I mean seriously, what are we supposed to do with this? No other show leans into the ridiculousness as much as Legends of Tomorrow does and by being so self aware, it's truly become on of the best shows on TV. Our only complaint? We have to wait until April for more episodes.

Here is its. The review we hinted at in our If Beale Street Could Talk and Three Identical Strangers reviews, the problematic review itself: Mary Poppins Returns.  Kriss, Ro and Brandon break down why this new Mary Poppins film is the perfect continuous from the original. Emily Blunt IS Mary Poppins and dominates the screen. But everyone else is pulling their weight as well. Lin-Manual Miranda really takes to his role as Jack and the film does a great job of blending an all new story and songs with the feeling of the original.

So why is this review problematic? Let's just say Kriss tries to kill off Angela Lansbury, Brandon comes up with a Murder She Wrote update and Ro...well we're not sure what Ro did but we're pretty sure it was something. These negroes should never be allowed to review movies together.

Barry Jenkins does it again. This time with his adaptation of James Baldwin's If Beale Street Could Talk. This film will hit you right in the feels (as expected). Just like with Moonlight, the way black people are filmed in this movie just makes us look magical. And the story is one that is both relevant to the time and doesn't have your typical "happy ending". We discuss how that might be a problem for some white critics that don't understand the significance of how this story ends. We also talk about how Jenkins manages to balance telling the delicate story of a rape victim and the family that believes the accused is innocent and how it shows both being victims of a system of oppression. We have a lot of thoughts on this film so give it a listen.

College football’s regular season is behind us, and Saturday can be for whatever you want it to be again. Since I reclaimed my Sundays a few weeks ago, we celebrate this new freedom with Stadium’s own Michael Felder. Yeah we talk college football and yeah he makes fun of the Dawgs, but we also cover Becky Lynch, MTV’s The Challenge, and Georgia high school football being displaced by soccer. SOCCER.

Guest: Michael Felder - @inthebleachers
