Phenom and Kriss are back to review the latest try hard movie from Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Skyscraper. Phenom (wrongly) blames Kriss for having to see and review this movie which is utterly stupid and ridiculous. The Rock has one leg in the film and plays a non-bad ass, bad ass. It's just another paint by number dumb action film starring The Rock that isn't looking to make money domestically but rather capitalize on his fame in China.

If you wanted to see this film you were already going to see it no matter what the reviews said. And if you thought the whole concept was dumb and not worth your time then...you were right.

A father goes to great lengths to save his family from a burning skyscraper.

Phenom and Kriss review the latest film to join the MCU ranks, Ant-Man and the Wasp. Evangeline Lilly finally gets to suit up as the Wasp and shows why she's a badass. The film is fun and has carved out a nice spot in the MCU as being a film perfect for families and young kids. While the after credit scenes (there are 2) do address where this film falls in with Infinity War, on its own, this film requires very little investment in the other films.

As Scott Lang balances being both a Super Hero and a father, Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.

Kriss, The Doctor, and Rod from The Black Guy Who Tips discuss season 1 of a show that was done criminally wrong by SyFy. The Doctor decided to rewatch the movie and tries (unsuccessfully) to make a case as to why the movie is not so bad in concert with the show. We also discuss the diversity of characters, including strong women characters, the complexity of the relationships, daddy issues, and why Dominion is the show that ruined Buffy's Giles for us. Take a listen and then watch the show if you haven't yet!

We will be back for a review of season 2 on the premium feed!

This week, Shanna, Parrish and The Doctor discuss everything Cloak & Dagger from Ty having too much bass in his voice to whether there's enough space in that cop car for O'Reilly to be getting it on during her lunch break.

Kriss is joined by Tim (@Peoplescrtic) to review the latest Purge film, The First Purge. This film is a prequel that shows how the Purge came about. Full disclosure, we're huge fans of this series as it's a lot more than the trailers have made it out to be. The First Purge drops the act and comes right out and reveals what we've always known: The Purge was about the government manipulating citizens in order to wipe out poor black and brown people. With the last two movies The Purge franchise has turned into a black survival horror series and it's been great.

We break down this film and the entire series and why we love it so much.

Hiroja and The Doctor are back for the series finale of 12 Monkeys.  This season picks up where the last one left off with our team fighting for their survival as Olivia, revealing herself as the true witness, attempts to eliminate them completely.  Using the technology that apparently was available in the facility the entire time, they splinter a portion of the facility to a new location.  Originally they think they've only moved in space, but it turns out they've created a T.A.R.D.I.S. and have also gone back in time to the very beginning of season 1.

Yes, it's just as ridiculous as it sounds.  This show is leaning in to the whole idea of "to hell with our own rules and mythology, let's just throw something at the wall and see if it sticks."  The first six episodes as reviewed here have some great moments.  After all, Cassie's face when Jennifer tells her and Cole to do "butt stuff only" is priceless.   The opening sequence of the first episode is well done, and the actors are wonderful in their roles.  In a show though where they keep breaking the rules they've made in the same episode and where there is nothing but a loop of time, it starts to get long and drawn out for no reason.  We discuss here what worked for the first half of the last season, what didn't work, and where the show appears to be heading next.  We also rant a bit about why SyFy refuses to embrace their heritage and allow their SCIENCE FICTION SHOWS TO BE GREAT!

It's the end of June so it's time for another Mailbag episode. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails, hot topics and discuss their Pull-List for the month. This was a fun episode. We talk the changes at WB & DC and we have a real good conversation about what WB might need to do to turn their movies around (Hint: One-off movies isn't a bad idea), Brie Larson is a bad ass (That's My Captain Marvel) and Todd McFarlane is apparently desperate for Sony to distribute his Spawn movie.

Note, this was recorded before the DC Universe announcement. While DC Universe does seem to be bringing some good things (Titans, Young Justice Outsiders, etc) and will have some comics...it still doesn't seem to be bringing a DC Unlimited feature unfortunately. You can look at the announcement here.

Phenom and Kriss review Uncle Drew, starring Kyrie Irving, Lil Rel Howery, Shaquille O'Neal, Tiffany Haddish and Nick Kroll. This film is based off the Uncle Drew character Kyrie played for the Pepsi Max commercials a few years back. So how was it? Well...your mileage may vary. There are a couple of moments early on in the film that will let you know if you're either in or you're out. Some of the story is just really bad and doesn't make sense, but the moments with Irving dealing with the other players are just like the commercials that got this movie green lit in the first place.

Considering that most comedies that come out in a given year don't get good reviews, this film isn't that bad. It's certainly better than some of the other films we've seen this year.
