This time it's not Dpalm's fault the world has gone to shit when he's on the Insanity Check. Kriss has been avoiding some of these topics for a while but since the Insanity Check is going on a two week break, we finally have to cover it. Semi-good news? Bill Cosby is going to jail for rape. It's still only 3 - 10 years (and he won't come close to even serving 3) but at last his rapist ass is in jail. And no, this isn't the case to use when talking about racial disparities in the criminal justice system. In lesser positive news, Brett Kavanaugh is going to be put on the Supreme Court. Hope is a lie and this FBI investigation is just a cover for Jeff Flake and other terrible republicans to have an excuse when they confirm him next week. Topics:

It's the end of September so it's time for another Mailbag episode. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails, hot topics and discuss their Pull-List for the month. This month we're doing something special. Because the Super Tuesday shows (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, etc) are coming back next month, we're doing a big preview show this upcoming Sunday. So send in emails for those. This month, we're focusing mostly on news and the big question is: What is the plan over at Warner Brothers/DC? Okay we lied, the first question really is how much did the Bumblebee trailer get Dpalm? It's an extra long Mailbag episode that you're not gonna want to miss. Topics:

You already know what this is. If you were thinking that Malcolm D Lee's Girls Trip would maybe make Night School, that includes Tiffany Haddish and Kevin Hart, would be a good follow up...you'd be wrong. This film is a mess and easily forgettable. It is also without a complete story. There are so many characters in this film and most of them have no character development. Characters are just there with no dialogue and no real purpose. The film just has no idea what it wants to be. Listen as Brandon and Ashley break down where this film went wrong. A group of troublemakers are forced to attend night school in hope that they'll pass the GED exam to finish high school. Kriss is joined by Joi to review, The Hate U Give which is based off of a young adult novel by the same name written by Angie Thomas. The film is directed by George Tillman Jr and stars Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall and Russell Hornsby. Now films based off of young adult novels don't have the best track record. Matter of fact, most are lazy and just downright awful. The Hate U Give isn't one of those films. It tackles some serious issues in the age of protests against police violence and Black Lives Matters and doesn't shy away from treating its target audiences as mature young adults. Add in an absolutely outstanding performance by Russell Hornsby and this is a film you're definitely going to want to check out. Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what's right. Like what you hear? Subscribe so you don't miss an episode! With the help of her friend Kaga, Ayumi tries to get her body back from Zenko who doesn't want to give up the popular girl's life or her boyfriend, Mizumoto. Kriss and Dpalm are back with another Character Corner episode. This time its Part 1 of a two part series on the Robins. We’ve covered most of the Robins already in previous episodes like Batman's Rogue Gallery, Tim Drake, all the Batgirl episodes and our three part Batman series. But we’ve never really dug deep into each of the Robins and gone into their differences and how they tell the larger story of Batman. We’re starting with Dick Grayson and Jason Todd not just because chronologically they were the first two robins but also because they represent the larger issues we’ve seen with Batman & DC Comics when they get translated to movies and TV. Everyone knows Dick Grayson is the first Robin but the reality is, by the time most of us were reading comics and aware of Batman, Grayson was far removed from being Robin. Same could be said for Jason Todd. Jason was first introduced in 1983 and was killed off in 1988. The first two Robins came and went before most people today were even 10. And that’s where we see DC getting into trouble. The mantle of Robin is almost just as important and divisive as Batman. There isn't another sidekick character in which you have 4-5 drastically different character holding the title and all of them are just about important. Dick, Jason, Tim/Stephanie and Damien. We’re gonna go through each Robin and talk not just about some of their key issues but really dive into how they’re different from each other, and the role they play in Bruce/Batman’s life. First up...the heir & the prodigal son: Richard & Jason. Key Issues:

A Simple Favor is yet another great movie featuring women from Director Paul Feig. Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively are great individually and amazing together. The film blends the comedy elements with the more serious thriller aspect extremely well without sacrificing the tone or being distracting. This is a film that will have you both laughing and paranoid about how well you actually know your "best friend". Kriss and Phenom break down what makes this film work so well.

Shane Black's The Predator is a massive disappointment for the franchise. The film is all over the place and both adds too much and not enough at the same time. It's such a shame because what works particularly well for this film is the cast. The "Loonies" (Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Thomas Jane, Alfie Aleen and Augusto Aguilera) work well together and would make for one hilarious Expendables/Bad Company movie. Sterling K Brown shines as a villain (almost too well). But outside of that, the film tries so hard to not be a Predator film is frustrating. It's not until almost the end of the film when a Predator actually does what Predators do, hunt. And even then it's almost as if it's an afterthought. Oh and the use of Jacob Tremblay to portray an autistic child is downright offensive. Listen to Kriss and Phenom break down just how bad this film is.

Peppermint is what happens when someone sees the backlash that Bruce Willis' Death Wish remake got and says "Maybe if we just make the main character a white woman, it won't be so problematic." Thing is...it's still problematic. This film could have been different. Trailers for it suggest that Jennifer Garner's character will not just be going after the Latino gang members that killed her husband and daughter but the corrupt system of judges, cops and lawyers. But that's mostly a head fake. The majority of Riley North's rage and violence is aimed at Latino men who are made to look especially savage. It's problematic and also tiring to see the same concept over and over again in a Hollywood that claims to want to support diversity. Listen as Kriss & Brandon break down why this movie is so bad.
