We have the Eastern and Western Conference Finals for the NBA currently trying to keep yet another Warriors vs Cavs Finals matchup happening, the Washington Capitals make it to the Stanley Cup Finals and yet, we have to put the focus of this show on Roger Goodell and the NFL's attempt to silent black NFL players. The new NFL "anthem" policy is a ridiculous. Less than 10 players were kneeling and the NFL decides it not only wants to shoot themselves in the face but also bend a knee to Donald Trump. And if that wasn't enough, they made the announcement on the same day that the Sterling Brown arrest video was made public.

What a joke.

It's no shock that this season of The Flash has been a bit of a disappointment and the finale was never going to change that. The main story in this episode leaves a lot to be desired but there was some good things. This entire season has done a good job of developing characters and setting them up for season 5. It's been clunky but still the development is there. It also seems like they've been doing a lot of setting up for Season 5 (From Dawn...I mean "Nora" to the mysterious writing Barry/Nora/Wells have all done). While it might not have saved this season, it's possible that Season 5 will be 100% on the right track because of this kind of setup. Also, we have to admit, this season with all of it's problems is still way better than last.

The end of season 5 is here for Agents of Shield and it doesn't go the way we thought it would but it was still great. What makes Agents of Shield so good is the way they always punch us in the gut. The inter-team relationships and conflicts always pay off. And that's on top of the super hero fight we get between Daisy and Graviton.

While the show is coming back for Season 6, this season ends in a way that could have been a series finale. Coulson and May end up on a beach in Tahiti waiting out Coulson's last days while the rest of the team goes to find the Fitz that's sitting in stasis in space (Always keep a spare Fitz). This is just such a great show

Season 6 comes to a close with Oliver sacrificing his freedom to save a team and a city that doesn't deserve him. Seriously, Agent Watson is the worst. How is it that Oliver does all the hard work but you still need to put him in jail? We're hoping this is a larger plot for the next season to get Oliver to root out corruption elsewhere. But overall, we enjoyed this finale. We got a good send off for Paul Blackthorne and Diaz is still around so we should get more of Kirk Acevedo in Season 7.

This show just won't stop being good-and we will not complain about that fact.  This week we get the DEO making a series of unfortunately stupid decisions leading to an epic two part dragging from Lena about Supergirl and her shortcomings, Alex being stupid and failing to be honest with Ruby, which leads to Ruby getting herself square in Reign's sights, Mon El deciding to stay not only to help his ex triumph but to figure out his feelings, and Carl Lumbly giving an excellent performance as we watch J'onzz's father slip further away.  The elevator scene was worth the price of admission as Lena tells Kara and the audience everything that is wrong with Supergirl-shortcomings we here on this podcast have been pointing out for 3 years by the way.  Lena is the hero we need but not the one we deserve.

With Deadpool 2 hitting theaters this weekend we've finally recorded our Character Corner episode on Nathaniel Christopher Charles Summers, aka, Cable. Now first off, we've touched on a lot of the early years with Nathan/Cable already in some previous Character Corners. We cover Nathan's birth and being sent to the future in the Cyclops & Alex episode as well as him being genetically created specifically to be a weapon against Apocalypse in our Apocalypse & Mister Sinister episode. And if you want more on Deadpool and Cable's relationship, we covered that all the way back in our Deadpool Character Corner.

Now Cable wasn't originally created to be the grown up, future Nathan Summers. Originally Louise Simonson and Rob Liefeld created him to just be a military leader who was the complete opposite of Professor X and would lead the young New Mutants. Things changed rather quickly as the character became more popular and soon it was revealed he was not only Nathan Summers but his clone was Stryfe who founded the Mutant Liberation Front. It only gets stranger and weirder from here and we cover it all. From his half sister from an alternate timeline (Rachel Summers/Grey) to Cable going becoming the protector and father of Hope Summers. There's a lot going on, it can be convoluted but it's all connected. We try to make sense of it all.

We've reached the penultimate episode of The Flash and we have to say, we enjoyed it pretty much. The episode opens up pretty strong with Devoe taking over an ARGUS facility using all of his powers and it was a pretty good sequence. While this season has been all over the place, they've at least established Devoe as real threat and his arc has at least been consistent enough that we care (unlike what's happened with Diaz on Arrow).

We also love that Cisco finally calls out Barry on his self loathing and inability to accept help. Barry's had to go through this with everyone else on the team and so hopefully this will be the last of it. And Cisco was absolutely right to call Barry out.

Overall this was a good episode. We could nitpick but this show needed more episodes like this one this season and it wouldn't have felt like such a drag.

Kriss & Jax review Solo: A Star Wars Story. For all the worry and talk about this film, it's so much better than anyone could imagine. The cast works extremely well together. Most people are coming for Donald Glover’s Lando, but they’ll stay for everyone else. Contrary to the rumors, Alden Ehrenreich nails a young, cocky, arrogant and ideological Han Solo. This film basically gives us a Han who hasn’t become completely jaded but also shows us that no matter how much of an outlaw he tries to pretend to be, he’s still a good guy underneath it all.

Woody Harrelson continues to be underrated and Emilia Clarke and Paul Bettany pull in great performances as well. But the real standout is Phoebe Waller-Bridge voicing the radical droid, L3-37.  If audiences thought K-2SO was a scene stealer in Rogue One, wait until they see L3. Without looking at the screen it would be easy to confuse her dialogue for that of a normal human. It’s that good.

What Solo brings to the table is something that a lot of fans might not have expected: Possibilities for other stories. This is a film that has no mention of Jedi or Sith and barely has the Empire in it. Solo shows that the Star Wars universe, even in prequel form, is pretty vast with a lot of stories to tell. Also, it’s very clear that things that happened in the Clone Wars animated series, Star Wars Rebels animated series and the new line of Marvel comic books, are all part of the same canon that the movies are using. There’s a special surprise in this film that is tied to something that happens in Clone Wars (the animated cartoon). It’s clear that Disney is building something special here.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is going to surprise a lot of people. It’s fun, expands the Star Wars lore and at the same time, feels like Star Wars. You’re not going to want to miss this one.

During an adventure into a dark criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters Lando Calrissian years before joining the Rebellion.

Deadpool 2 suffers from what a lot of sequels do when it comes to it's story being a bit of a mess. But Ryan Reynold's is great as the Merc with a Mouth, the comedy hits and the action is great. Throw in Deadpool once again being the only Fox super hero movie that gets what the X-Men are supposed to be and this is a film fans will definitely enjoy. Kriss and Phenom break down what didn't work and worked for this sequel.

Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (AKA. Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy of supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling mutant, Cable.

When Agents of Shield Season 5 showed us a cracked earth in episode 1, we immediately wondered how it would tie in Infinity War. We never thought it would tie-in with the events of Infinity War happening right along side the last 3 episodes of the season. This show is amazing. We think we know how this season ends and while we don't know if it's coming back for Season 6, we're rooting for it.

Structurally, this is a good episode. The stakes were high and the action was good. But we can't help but wonder why all the sudden ARGUS's hands are tied because of red tape and how the Quadrant became so weak compared to Diaz. Also, while we appreciate Oliver's growth, it's getting a bit annoying that the problems with Diaz were literally caused by everyone else.

Also, if you haven't read the Green Arrow Rebirth arc, you really should.

Diaz targets Team Arrow and their loved ones. Oliver struggles with Felicity putting herself in danger when she gets the chance to stop Diaz for good.

Brandon, Ashley and Kriss review Breaking In, starring Gabrielle Union and directed by James McTeigue. The film just isn't very good. First sign should have been that writer Ryan Engle has written such AMAZING films as Non-Stop, The Commuter and Rampage. In a post Black Panther world, half-assed low budget attempts to capitalize off of "diversity" by just throwing in a black woman aren't going to cut it. Everyone deserves better.

Kriss, Phenom and Ashley review the latest from Melissa McCarthy, Life of they Party. The movie comes off as if McCarthy and Ben Falcone have never been to a college campus. Add on top of that dead end characters that start arcs that don't get finished and just a bunch of logistics that don't make sense (Why is a late 40 to mid-50's former house wife moving into the dorms for 1 class?). McCarthy has done a lot better work and this film just feels lazy and extremely bad.

Oh yeah...and then there's episode 21 of The Flash. Not a bad episode. Katee Sackhoff is over-the-top as Amunet but we love it. We definitely wouldn't mind seeing her start the Rogues next season. Also, can we get a little more consistency with Iris and her writing? Does she have a Blog? Is it that Popular? Does she only post like once a month? Come on folks, this is easy to fix. But overall we did like this episode (minus the Council of Harrisons and lack of DeVoe). Can this show land the final two episodes? We hope so.

You'd think after Universal FanCon spectacularly crashed and burned, co-founders Robert Butler and Jamie Broadnax would keep a low profile and not say anything. Particularly since every time they speak on the issue, they make it worse. You'd probably think that because you have the intelligence to know that the more you speak the more you make yourself look bad. You probably also have an ounce of shame that's apparently completely absent from anyone involved with ScamCon. Late Monday afternoon, Vulture posted this piece The Story Behind FanCon's Controversial Collapse and it makes everyone involved look even worse.

First there's Butler inexplicably blaming a "lack of support" from the blerd community as the cause of the collapse and not the fact that he used 80% of the Kickstarter funds as a deposit for the Baltimore Convention Center. Then there's Jamie claiming she's the one who informed the hotels that they couldn't pay their $70,000 bill even though she previously claimed she had no idea how or why the hotels canceled reservations. It quickly becomes clear that Universal FanCon was all about rubbing elbows with celebrities and not building and serving the community.

Listen as Kriss and Phenom break down the audacity of the claims in the article.

Oliver finally goes on trial and while we always knew he was walking out of that courtroom, the way he does it is probably the greatest moment in white privilege ever seen on a fictional television show. We double up to talk about two episodes in which Imra tries to tell people that Pestilence has to die because, you know, she's from the FUTURE.  Of course no one listens cause they haven't figured out that the power of love can't save everything.  Lena has a lot of explaining to do when the information about her secret "guest" is out, and we get our Black Act Off with David Harewood and Carl Lumbly.  While Shanna didn't need the Kara/Mon El showdown, The Doctor appreciated the growth and maturity it took for Kara to recognize the toxicity of their relationship and call him out on it.  This show is moving full steam ahead, and the acting is rising to the occasion, along with the storylines.

This week's episode of The Flash feels like it's placed right where it needs to be. We finally find out what Devoe is up to and the use of flashbacks to the early days of his relationship with Marlize helps. The title and theme also ties into episode 7 from earlier in the season which also gave us background on Devoe. Clearly the theme here is that while Devoe is gaining everything he wants, he's losing his humanity while Team Flash is losing things but are leaning on their humanity to survive.  We can see where this is going but that doesn't mean its bad.

We also talk about DC Universe, DC's new streaming service (that for some reason doesn't include an Unlimited service yet), Infinity War making $800 million in a week and the Ant-Man and the Wasp  trailer.

Barry and Team Flash team up with Gypsy to try to thwart Thinker's plan. Meanwhile, Cisco and Gypsy have a heart to heart talk about their relationship.
